Qualifications: The staff nurse must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current practical nursing license in the state of Louisiana. Long term care experience preferred but not essential.

Days and Hours: 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am

Job Description, Requirements, and Duties

Description

Our staff LPNs communicate with off-going and arriving shifts of personnel to assure the continuum of quality of care; makes rounds evaluating the physical, emotional and social needs of the residents and making sure these needs are being met through the staff assigned to work with each group of residents. The staff nurse assesses assigned staff’s ability to provide for each resident’s needs and provides intervention as indicated. The staff nurse supervises the care provided by the Nursing Assistants assigned to the unit, providing intervention, education and assignment adjustments as indicated.

The staff nurse prepares and administers medications and treatments according to procedures; consults with physicians; receives, records and transcribes orders as required; and makes rounds with physicians when necessary. The LPN reviews residents’ care plans, assures these plans are followed and documents resident medical records.
